Research Informatics Specialist

About the Role

At Indoc Systems, we design, build, and manage complex health data infrastructure for research organizations across the globe. We deploy large scale informatics platforms involving wide-ranging and complex health data modalities (e.g., imaging, genomics, clinical assessments, wearables) across multiple disease areas including brain, cardiovascular, and cancer. The Indoc Pilot research data platform and services have been implemented in numerous settings including research institutes, hospitals and universities.

We are currently seeking a Research Informatics Specialist to join Indoc’s Data Management and Research Operations team. This is a 12-month contract position to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of a permanent full-time role upon completion of the contract, subject to organizational needs and performance. The Research Informatics Specialist will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the informatics platforms and provide support services to ensure optimal utilization of the platform and hosted data by end users.

Key Responsibilities

· Participate in platform data management activities including but not limited to data collection, maintenance, curation, visualization, sharing, and release.

· Provide ongoing data management, technical, and operational support to study staff.

· Maintain and service central help desk and respond to day-to-day user inquiries.

· Engage data providers, curators, and analysts in defining business requirements for the incoming data including data ingestion, linking, and query objectives.

· Work with data curation teams and Indoc data engineers to design pipelines and downstream query APIs.

· Support and as appropriate conduct modality specific QA/QC

· Provide development and data engineering teams with subject matter expertise and assist in communication of user requirements.

· Assist in configuration and implementation of platform systems.

· Develop and perform User Acceptance Testing of new and updated products.

· Support DevOps team, including testing and validation, communication of user issues and requests.

· Work with team members to develop new products and services to meet informatics needs of user groups.

· Develop and maintain SOPs, policies and procedures, knowledge bases and system documentation.

· Develop and maintain training modules and administer training to all incoming users.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, bioinformatics, or related field

· 3+ years recent related experience

· Experience in study and data management and research operations in health and medical sectors

· Broad knowledge of clinical research in an academic, hospital or industry environment including protocol requirements, Research Ethics Board relations, and data management best practices.

· Experience in health and research data management and knowledge of data management standards and best practices

· Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)

· Experience/working knowledge of querying REST APIs

· Experience working in Linux environments

· Experience with data management software tools for data collection and visual analytics (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica, TIBCO Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, Superset)

· Programming or scripting experience (particularly in R or Python)

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Excellent analytical and organizational skills and superior attention to detail

· Willingness and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

· Ability to work within a collaborative team across multiple disciplines

· Willingness to research and learn new approaches and technologies.

Compensation

Anticipated salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 plus benefits
